IE University graduation ceremonies
More than ten years directing the IE University graduation ceremonies in Segovia live: multiple cameras, robotic cameras, a gimbal on the move and an LED screen.
The IE University graduations at its Segovia campus take place beneath a historic vault, with families in the room and a moment every graduate wants to see clearly. We have been directing them live for more than ten years.
The challenge
A graduation cannot be repeated: if a graduate does not come out well on screen, that moment is lost. On top of that, the space means cameras and screen must be placed with care, without blocking the audience’s view and respecting the building.
The solution
- Multiple cameras to follow the speakers, each graduate and the audience.
- Robotic cameras (PTZ) and polecam for high shots and angles that do not get in anyone’s way.
- Ronin gimbal on the move to follow the graduates with steadicam-style shots.
- LED screen next to the stage, with a close-up of whoever is speaking so they can be seen from any seat.
- Live direction from a control position in the room itself, with everything tested before the ceremony.
The result
More than ten years trusting us with their graduations. Every graduate appears on the screen and in the recording, and the families take the moment home with them.
